Adam Bull
Head Swimming Coach
Coach Bull returns to Plano East after one year at Nimitz High School in Irving. Previously, he was the assistant coach at Plano East from 2017 through 2019. In 2019, Coach Bull joined the Peace Corps, where he served as an English Education and Gender Equity Volunteer in the West African country of Togo. While his service was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he is very excited to return to Plano East and find creative ways to share this unique experience with the team.
Coach Bull graduated from J.J. Pearce High School in Richardson where he was a 4-time state champion and former state record holder in the 200 I.M. After high school he competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials where he placed 39th in the 400 I.M. He then attended the University of Florida where he majored in Political Science and competed on the winning 2013, 2014, and 2015 Southeastern Conference championship teams. He received all-SEC academic honors during each of those years as well.
As the assistant coach for Plano East from 2017-2019 Coach Bull helped develop multiple state championship qualifiers and saw the team break many school records. Coach Bull also led the Junior Varsity boys’ team to winning the district championship in 2019. In addition to Plano East, he coached for the City of Richardson Swim Team for 3 years.
Coach Bull is excited to be back at Plano East where he can translate these experiences into developing all-around student athletes, team members, and leaders. Character development is just as important as winning meets, as well as making sure the experience remains enjoyable and memorable by all. Let’s make it a great year!
Drew Byrd

While new to the team, Coach Byrd is excited to learn with the swimmers and contribute in any way he can.

Coaching Philosophy
High School swimming provides an opportunity for student-athletes to develop as individuals and as contributing members of a TEAM. As coaches it is our mission to create an environment in which athletes are challenged both mentally and physically on a daily basis in practice and competition. We strive to facilitate balance between competitive swimming and a rigorous academic schedule. And, we pursue success through positive instruction and continuous learning.
